To the Editor:
I have been a fan of the Southwest Light Rail project since before it was called that. Then Hennepin County Board Chair John Derus started working on it in the 1980s. Here we are, three decades later, and we may finally start construction of a project vital to the health of Hopkins, St. Louis Park and the other cities along the route.
We would not be at this point were it not for outstanding public servants like Cheryl Youakim. As a member of the Hopkins City Council, she represented our area on the SWLRT Community Advisory Committee. As our state representative for District 46B, she has continued to be a strong advocate. She has always been accessible for dialogue and responsive to questions.
This is just a small portion of the work she has done to advance issues important to her district. Please consider that when you go to the polls on Nov. 6 and vote for Cheryl.
